Why trade-in?

If you are upgrading your mobile phone, iPad, iPod or games console it’s easy to get carried away with the excitement of the new product. Having fun exploring and playing with the new features, it’s all too easy to shove the old model in a drawer, cupboard, garage or loft. You might even be tempted to throw it in the bin.

Here’s why that’s a bad idea!

You are throwing cash in the dustbin – literally

It takes seconds to check your item on our site to find out its trade-in value. You could be pleasantly surprised. Even a few pounds for each game you no longer use can add up.

Remember, trading in your old console, iPad or iPod promptly will mean a higher price. Any discarded electronic item loses value as fast as it collects dust. And it clutters up your space.

You are getting rid of valuable raw materials

By throwing a games console into an ordinary domestic dustbin, you are putting the mercury, gold, cadmium, lead, nickel and other rare commodity metals that may be in its circuitry out of circulation forever. We are running out of some of these materials, so this is madness.

Trade-in-for-cash has a strong commitment to the environment. We are keen to prevent these valuable metals from being lost. Trading in is best as that gives you cash and it prolongs the life of your gadget, but please recycle if your quote tells you your item hasn’t got a trade-in value.

You may be harming the environment

Nearly 50 million metric tons of computer and electronic waste are produced worldwide each year and that’s increasing. If it’s not traded, donated or recycled, this waste can end up in a landfill. All those valuable components are not only lost, but they can also be potentially harmful. Lead and mercury seeping from a landfill site into water supplies must not be allowed to happen.

Trading in means that someone else can benefit from your gadget or accessory, extending its life and keeping it out of the landfill. You get the cash; someone else can use the item. It makes sense all round, including the environment.
